The Bounty Kitchen Roll’s (or the renamed ‘Plenty’ Kitchen Roll from February 2009) ‘Carry on Cleaning’ advertisement campaign was released on 12th July 2007.
The television commercial is strongly based on the ‘Carry on‘ Films that started in 1958 and disintegrated slowly after they became extremely popular throughout the 1970′s. The film that director Simon Delaney links to most is ‘Carry on Loving‘ from 1970. Most of the films starred Kenneth Williams, Joan Sims and Barbara Windsor who have arguably helped create the stereotypical Carry On.
It’s favoritism with the public was not only due to it’s tongue-in-cheek humor or its early rebellion against the common political and cultural content. But each film took on fairly sexual content or ‘nudge-nudge’ humor for it’s time. It’s downfall began when sexual innuendo’s became natural for television and much of the regular cast and crew had moved on. The advertisement was edited at Rushes Studios in association with Plunge films, after only two days of filming and replicating each lighting set up only 7 shots where used.
